A Little Bit About Us
Prom 2017
We, Sam and Lauren, met in 2015 at the start of Lauren’s freshman year of High School. We began dating in September of 2016 and have been together ever since.
Sam’s junior year he began his college search, with the Naval Academy holding the top spot on his preference list. After attending the Naval Academy Summer Seminar and visiting numerous other schools, he applied to USNA.
After months and months of agonizing waiting and numerous tests and interviews, Sam got an email on February 21st, 2018 inviting him to be a midshipman for the class of 2022.
This blog is an account of the challenges and victories we face while shooting to be part of the “2%” of relationships who go in, and come out of, a military academy without ending. (It’s not proven to be two percent, but that is the running number to emphasis just how few couples make it.)
Accounts will be from both Sam and Lauren’s perspectives and will encompass our emotions, thoughts, and tips on our journey of shooting for the 2%. Though we are not sure what to expect from this new chapter in our lives, we hope to share these experiences and maybe provide a bit of comfort to those of you experiencing the same thing– now or in the future.
